In the heart of the Karawanken: from the Bärental to the Bodental valley with wonderful close-up and far-reaching views
From the Klagenfurter hut you choose the marked path towards "Bodental/Ghf. Sereinig" and climb slightly uphill in 15 min to the Matschachersattel (1.714 m; leaving the path towards "Kosiak" on your left). On the other side on a marked path downhill to the beginning of a rocky, about 70 m high rock step, which is partly conquered with the help of wire ropes ("Stinzesteig"). At the bottom with wire rope support left around the corner and up another 10 m in height. Continue along the beautiful path until you reach a crossroads. Here you take the left path uphill to the Ogrisalm (1.569 m).
Pass the alpine pasture and enter the woods again, following a beautiful path under the Kosmatitza, then descending again following the signs "603" until you reach a forest path. Follow this downhill until you reach the estate "Ogrisbauer". Here you turn right and walk downhill along trail no. 10 to Gasthof Bodenbauer (1.056m) and past the legendary "Meerauge" - a relic of the Ice Age that reflects the entire beauty of the Karawanken - to Gasthof Sereinig.
From Gasthof Sereinig you walk along the narrow asphalt road to the east. After 5 min at a junction continue straight ahead until you reach a bridge. Now you walk on the right side of the stream downhill to just above the Tschaukofall (signposted "Tscheppaschlucht", about one hour from Gasthof Sereinig). There you turn right towards Ghf. Deutscher Peter and follow the hiking trail through beautiful beech forests slightly up and down to Gasthof Deutscher Peter (another 20 min).
