Stage 10: Eisenkappler Hütte - Bad Eisenkappel

Stage description

For relaxation: A short stage to rest in the sun loge below the Hochobir to Bad Eisenkappel

From the Eisenkappler Hütte you start out on the 603 path and walk briefly uphill through a short section of woodland before arriving at exposed alpine pastures with fantastic views of the Karawanken and Steiner Alps. After about 25 minutes walking time you will reach a pretty little chapel dedicated to St. Anna. The story is explained on a wooden plaque at the chapel and an alpine service is held here to celebrate Saint Anna at the end of July.
Shortly after, the path forks: you stay on path n. 603, on the right of the two paths. Now the path always descends slightly past rock faces and through beautiful mixed forest with beautiful views of the gentle Jauntal valley. About halfway through the stage after a good hour, the Agnes spring invites you to take a rest. Its low mineralisation and low temperature make it a perfect source of energy. A signboard details the spring and is part of the mineral spring hiking trails in Bad Eisenkappel.
After the spring you will come to a forest road, which you follow for a short while to the right and then after a right-hand bend turn right again into the forest on the trail. Continue along the 603, which offers a view of Bad Eisenkappel shortly before the finish. From here you will reach an asphalt road which you follow to the right. You cross the river Vellach and come directly to the center of the town Bad Eisenkappel.
