Meadows, forests, the famous observation tower Pyramidenkogel and wonderful views of the turquoise blue Lake Wörthersee
From the boat pier Velden, across from Schlosshotel Velden, you follow the blue-white-blue markings of the Wörthersee Circular Hiking Trail first along the promenade, which leads directly along the lake. At the youth hostel Cap Wörth the path branches from the promenade into the forest. Now you cross a road before it idyllically leads through forest and meadows through the district of Auen (path no.7). Directly behind the restaurant "Weißes Rössl" you turn right and reach path no. 7 "Trattnigteich". The beautifully situated pond invites you to linger and you can fortify yourself with a drink at Landgasthof Trattnig.
Continue to the Teixlkreuz where the path divides. The left path is marked in light blue and leads you to Maria Wörth - you can choose this path with our premium offer with boat trip back to Velden. The actual Wörthersee Rundwanderweg leads you further along the right path (no.5, blue-white-blue markings) below the observation tower Pyramidenkogel.
After about 20 minutes hiking time from Teixlkreuz you have the possibility to make a detour to the observation tower Pyramidenkogel. Follow the light blue marked path up to the right for about 40 minutes. If you have enough time and strength, this side trip is highly recommendable: the 100m high observation tower is not only worth seeing because of its view over the whole Wörthersee area to the Karawanken and Julian Alps in the south and the Nockberge mountains in the north. It is also spectacular because of its construction as the world's tallest wooden tower with the highest dry slide in Europe (additional time required without viewing about 1 hour 15 min).
After the detour back to the actual Wörthersee Rundwanderweg, the path leads you to the church of St. Anna and beyond it, down to the right to Reifnitz, today's stage destination.
(Note: the entire Wörthersee Rundwanderweg is marked blue-white-blue).
